Standard vs. Deep Cleaning: Which One Do You Need?

By Trusted House Cleaning Services Fulshear · Published

A standard clean maintains a home that is already in decent shape: kitchen, bathrooms, dusting and floors. A deep clean adds hand-wiped baseboards, door frames, vents, fixtures, tracks and extra time on grease and grout. Appliance and cabinet interiors are add-ons on both, but they come standard in a move-out clean.

What does a standard clean cover?

Our standard clean handles the rooms you use every day. That means kitchen counters, the sink, the stovetop and appliance exteriors, full bathroom cleaning, dusting of reachable surfaces, vacuuming and mopping. We also make the beds, empty the trash and finish with a checklist walk-through.

This is the right choice when the house is fairly well maintained and the surfaces are easy to get to. A first visit does not have to be a deep clean. Describe how the home looks today rather than going only by when it was last cleaned.

What extra work comes with a deep clean?

A deep clean covers the full standard list and then adds hand-wiped baseboards, door frames, doors, light switches, vents, window tracks, cabinet fronts and reachable fans and fixtures. The kitchen and bathrooms get extra attention for grease, soap scum and hard-water spots.

In newer Fulshear and Katy homes, the first deep clean is often about construction dust that has settled into vents, sills and cabinet tops. If painters or contractors are still working, tell us, since heavy builder cleanup is quoted on its own. Dusting vents means the grilles you can see, not duct cleaning.

  • Run a finger along a baseboard and see what comes up.
  • Check the range hood and stovetop for a sticky layer.
  • Look at the shower grout and glass for film or stains.
  • Note which furniture can be moved and which should stay put.

What is left out of both standard and deep cleans?

The inside of the fridge, oven and cabinets are add-ons for both services, and so are blinds and interior windows. Carpet shampooing, second-story exterior glass, pest droppings, biohazards and mold remediation are outside our regular checklists.

Cleaning removes dirt, but it cannot undo damage. Etched stone, cracked caulk, worn grout and stained surfaces may still show after a careful clean. Point out delicate finishes ahead of time so we can choose the right product for them.

How should I choose my first visit?

Tell us your home size and give a quick picture of the kitchen and bathrooms. If it is mostly everyday dust and floors, a standard visit fits. If baseboards, grout and fixtures have fallen behind, start with a deep clean and then move to recurring standard visits.

Moving into or out of an empty home is a different case. The move-in and move-out checklist includes cabinet and appliance interiors that a deep clean leaves as extras. Use the cleaning checklist on this site to see the three scopes side by side before you ask for a quote.
